Wayfarer released a new single called Perdition's Crossing on August 6, Metal Injection reported, their first new music since 2023's American Gothic. David Eugene Edwards, known for 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand, sings on the track, which comes with a video directed by Brendan McGowan.
"We have long walked a path that was very much informed by Denver Sound legends like 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand, among many others," the band said, adding that working with Edwards felt like a dream come true and a way to push into new territory for the Wayfarer sound.
Ben Chisholm of Chelsea Wolfe produced and packaged the single, with engineering by Beach House's James Barone, mixing by Enslaved's Iver Sandoy, and mastering by Converge's Alan Douche. The track comes off Wayfarer's upcoming album Riders of the Setting Sun, due later this year on Vesperian, though without a firm release date yet.
The label is pressing a limited 12 inch vinyl single, 300 copies total, split between the US and Europe, with a remix and a field recording on the B side plus artwork from graphic novelist Julian Brier.
