London post-punk quartet World News have announced their debut album, In Purgatory, due out October 16, and shared a video for its latest single, "The Way It Goes."
The album was recorded at RAK Studios in central London with producer Tommy Bosustow, who has also worked with mary in the junkyard and Porridge Radio. "The Way It Goes" was mostly written and demoed back in 2020, according to vocalist Alex Evans, who said the album mixes older material with songs written just weeks or days before the band entered the studio.
"The lyrics don't possess too much of a story, but are more phrases and thoughts of how I was feeling at the time," Evans said of the single.
In Purgatory includes 11 tracks, among them two songs the band previewed early: "Sidestep," released in April, and "Everything Is Coming Up Roses," released as a single in September 2025. World News will tour behind the album this autumn and winter, with dates across the UK and Europe including stops in Manchester, Bristol, Brighton, Barcelona and London's Scala before wrapping in Belfast and Dublin in December.
In Purgatory is now tracked on the release calendar ahead of its October release, part of the fall's new indie slate.
