Keath Osk of Yaelokre has launched a solo era, announcing a debut album, "Foreword," alongside a new single, "And the Hound," NME reported on August 4. "Foreword" is due September 4 via Atlantic Records.
The album re-records and reimagines songs Osk originally released under the Yaelokre name, moving away from the project's acoustic indie-folk sound toward a fuller, brass-driven backdrop, with more woodwinds and nods to alt-pop, hip-hop and jazz. Osk called "And the Hound" their favorite of the songs they released as Yaelokre, saying they kept adding to it over time and felt the need to honor it in this new form.
Osk will tour behind the album on a world run beginning October 7 in Europe, including a stop at London's O2 Shepherds Bush Empire on October 29, before a North American leg that opens November 9 in Orlando and wraps December 20 in Houston. As Yaelokre, the Filipino-Icelandic songwriter, musician and illustrator built a folk-pop world around four masked children in a fictional setting called Meadowlark, and was featured on NME's NME 100 list at the start of the year.
