Americana singer-songwriter Anna Graves makes her Grand Ole Opry debut

Anna Graves made her Grand Ole Opry debut on Tuesday, August 25, joining the lineup for the Opry 100: Summer Of The Century concert series. For an Americana singer-songwriter releasing a first album, an Opry debut is the single clearest marker that Nashville has noticed.

The set doubled as a celebration of that album, America's Greatest Burnout, and carried a tribute to Dolly Parton through it. Graves posted a clip afterwards describing an emotional night. "When I stood in that circle for the first time, I got choked up," she wrote, saying it felt as though everyone who had stood there before had left a piece of themselves in the wood.

The circle she is describing is literal. A section of the old Ryman stage was cut out and set into the floor of the Opry House, so every debut happens on the same boards generations of country singers stood on. It is a piece of stagecraft that works on performers exactly as intended.

The record behind the debut runs twelve songs, opening with the title track and taking in "Damn In Love," "Hollow Bones," "Goldmine," "Ashes & Smoke," "Jaded Songbirds," "Granted," "Two Faced," "Burn On," "Minnesota," "The Long Way" and "Honkie Was A Wise Man."

The touring starts within weeks. Her debut headline run, the America's Greatest Burnout Tour, opens on September 9 in Decatur, Georgia and reaches 17 cities, including Boston, Washington, Chicago, Denver, Salt Lake City and Seattle, before finishing on October 17. She is also a showcasing artist at AMERICANAFEST, which runs across Nashville venues from September 16 to 19.

The debut is filed under country, and her dates sit on the tour guide. Opry debuts have come thick this season, including Josh Tatofi's first time on the stage and Stella Lefty's booking for September 2.
