BMG and Concord have finished the partnership they announced in April, and the more revealing part of the announcement is the org chart. The combined company operates under the BMG name, with global headquarters in Nashville and Berlin as its European base, and it brings together two businesses covering music publishing, recorded music, theatrical rights, digital distribution and film and television.
Bob Valentine, who ran Concord before the deal, takes the chief executive role. Thomas Coesfeld, who ran BMG, becomes chairman. That is the reverse of what the naming might suggest, and it means the operational lead comes from the smaller of the two names on the door.
The rest of the executive management team is drawn from both sides. Bjorn Bauer is chief financial officer, Sebastian Hentzschel chief operating officer, Victor Zaraya chief revenue officer, Amanda Molter general counsel and Kent Hoskins chief transformation officer.
Valentine described the group as leaders with the experience and judgement to deliver on the company's ambitions, and said the priority is building on the strengths of both businesses to create an organisation that can move quickly and invest with conviction on behalf of the artists, songwriters and playwrights it represents.
Beneath that sits an 18-member Strategic Leadership Council, made up of the six executives plus twelve senior leaders from across the company. Nashville's Job Loba has been named head of Global Frontline Recordings and Tom Becci head of Global Recorded Operations.
The rest of the council spans the breadth of what the merged company now does: Alberto Chullen on corporate development and investments, Sophia Dilley on Concord Originals, Sean Flahaven on Concord Theatricals, Celine Joshua on global marketing and streaming, Nitsa Kalispera on supply chain, Ruth Martinez on human resources, Kristal McKanders Dube on corporate communications, Alistair Norbury as senior creative adviser to Valentine, Tom Scherer on global catalogue recordings and Jim Selby on global music publishing. Valentine said the council exists to keep a broader group of leaders around the table. BMG's recent activity has included a global licensing deal with the AI company Suno and catalogue buys such as Andrew Stockdale's rights.
