Weezer guitarist Brian Bell has confirmed that the band's long-rumored movie is finished and due out in 2027. Bell gave the news at the Los Angeles premiere of Green Day's film Nimrods on August 12, telling local radio station Alt 98.7: "Although I'm not supposed to talk about it. But yes, it's in the can. It's gonna be incredible. You'll see it in 2027."
The as-yet-untitled film was first announced at Coachella in 2025, when frontman Rivers Cuomo told the crowd the band had been busy making the Weezer movie back in LA. Cuomo later suggested Jack Black would be involved, a claim a band spokesperson denied, and an early report named Keanu Reeves as the villain, describing the project as a cross between Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.
The movie news lands alongside a busy stretch for Weezer. The band recently announced a 2026/2027 world tour covering the UK, Europe, North America and Japan, in support of their 20th studio album in the band's long rock catalogue, The Gold Album, due out August 21 via Reprise/Warner and tracked on the release calendar. Weezer were also announced as part of the lineup for Stage Tour, a new rhythm game arriving this winter.
No title or further release details have been shared for the film beyond Bell's 2027 timeline.
