Cardi B has a fourth diamond certified single, and the record that got her there is WAP. The Recording Industry Association of America certified her 2020 collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion at 10 million units in early August 2026, and the count puts her ahead of Nicki Minaj on a tally Minaj had held.
Minaj's three diamond songs are Super Bass, Starships and Bang Bang, the last of those a team-up with Jessie J and Ariana Grande. Cardi B's four are Bodak Yellow, I Like It with Bad Bunny and J Balvin, Girls Like You with Maroon 5, and now WAP. That gives her sole possession of the female rap record rather than a share of it.
Three of the four are collaborations, which has fed an argument online about how the achievement should be read. The RIAA's own rules do not draw that line: a certification counts toward every credited performer, whether the artist led the record or joined someone else's. The ranking resurfaced across social media on 30 August, several weeks after the certification itself.
Bodak Yellow is the one that started it. It was the first song by a female rapper to reach diamond, and it laid the commercial ground for Invasion of Privacy, which went on to become the first album by any artist to have every track certified at least platinum.
WAP also delivered a first for Megan Thee Stallion, who picked up her debut diamond plaque through the same certification. Released almost six years ago, the song has kept accumulating units long after the news cycle around it closed, which is the pattern that separates a hit from a catalogue record.
The milestone follows a busy stretch on the charts and the road for the hip-hop star, whose AH HA reached the Hot Rap Songs top 10 earlier in the summer, and who has been adding stadium dates including a Jamaica show to her touring run. The certification itself was reported when WAP first crossed the threshold.
