Chrissi has released a new single, "THE SCARIEST PART!," via Black Butter Records, DIY reports. The Essex-born singer-songwriter uses the track to explore the lingering pull of a past relationship, the intrusive memories and emotional echoes that stick around long after a person has left.
"I wrote The Scariest Part after getting on a plane and blocking my ex," Chrissi said of the song's origin. Even in a new country, she said, "it felt like being haunted by a very persistent ghost," despite her efforts, including physically leaving the country, to get him off her mind. Writing the song, she added, helped her extend herself some grace, since his intentions "weren't very pure from the get go."
The single follows Chrissi's recent releases "ONE IN FIVE!" and "HEARTLESS DARLIN'!", continuing a run that has also included recent tours alongside kwn and Skye.
Chrissi has history with at least one other artist on MusicSuey's radar this week: she previously teamed up with Rachel Chinouriri on a rework of "Love Me in Chapters II," a past collaboration that puts "THE SCARIEST PART!" in the context of an artist who keeps circling back to candid, relationship-driven songwriting.
