Comeback Kid set their eighth album Chosen Hell for November 6

Will Putney produced the 11-track record, which brings in Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox and Brendan Garrone of Incendiary.

Comeback Kid

Comeback Kid have named their eighth studio album. Chosen Hell arrives on November 6 through Dine Alone Records, following 2022's Heavy Steps and the Trouble EP from 2024, and the Winnipeg hardcore band shared the title track and its video with the announcement. Exclaim's Megan Lapierre reported the details on August 27.

The record was made with Will Putney producing and engineering at his Graphic Nature Audio studio in New Jersey, a room that has become a default address for heavy bands wanting weight without gloss. Eleven tracks made the cut.

Two of them bring guests. Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox appears on Shedding Season, and Brendan Garrone of Incendiary sings on Yesterday's Gone. Both are voices from adjacent corners of the same scene rather than crossover picks.

Vocalist Andrew Neufeld put the title song in plain moral terms in a press release, describing it as being about the simple binaries people fail anyway. "Often, we are incapable of choosing the right thing," he said, adding that people end up in situations they know are holding them back and that the outcome is what they make of it.

The full running order is Target on My Back, Vindication, Shedding Season, Lost and Found, Underneath the Pressure, Chosen Hell, Yesterday's Gone, Tunnel Vision, Becoming, Heartland Elegy and Too Late.

LaPlante has been busy outside Spiritbox as well, having built a vocal plugin with MixWave. Other heavy records are stacking up for autumn, including Godflesh's penultimate album Decay. Release dates sit in the release calendar, and the metal hub carries the rest.
