Djrum, electronic producer, returns to Houndstooth with new EP "I Wander"

Djrum, the project of producer Felix Manuel, released a new EP called I Wander on the label Houndstooth, The Quietus reported in its review. The vinyl edition is pressed as one continuous mix, while the digital version splits the record into seven tracks, each marked only with a roman numeral.

The EP builds on a recent performance where Manuel played an improvised set at London's Barbican using foraged materials, including a custom instrument built from a tree trunk, and I Wander carries a similar push and pull between acoustic and electronic textures. The Quietus described the record as if "the industrial is battling the organic," building from glitchy opener "I Wander (I)" through club-leaning breakbeats and a piano interlude on "I Wander (II)" that recalls his 2025 album, Under Tangled Silence.

The record's second half shifts again, moving through an intense drum passage on "I Wander (III)," a spacious piano-led stretch on "I Wander (IV + V)," and a cello-driven turn on "I Wander (VI)" before closing with the roughly three-minute ambient piece "I Wander (VII)."

The artwork, created by London audio-visual artist Min Yu, was generated by running Manuel's own tracks and frequencies through an audio frequency analyzer and custom code, turning the music itself into the sprawling cover image.

I Wander is out now on Houndstooth, joining the rest of the week's electronic arrivals on the release calendar.
