Elderbrook, Bob Moses, Aluna and Jayda G supply music for a GTA 6 trailer

Rockstar Games has finally shown Grand Theft Auto VI at length, and it went out on dance music. Elderbrook, Bob Moses, Aluna and Jayda G all appear in a 26-minute extended look that premiered on Netflix at 3pm ET on August 27, six hours ahead of its arrival on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the game's own site. The film follows the protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos through a rebuilt Vice City in the fictional state of Leonida, and the closing minutes belong to two house records: Aluna and Jayda G's Mine O' Mine, and Elderbrook and Bob Moses' Inner Light.

That placement is not incidental. The series has used its in-game radio stations as a taste signal since the beginning, and putting dance music at the end of the most substantial preview the studio has released reads as a deliberate nod to the genre's place in the franchise.

The wait has been long enough to be its own story. Grand Theft Auto V arrived in September 2013, making this the longest gap the series has ever asked of its audience, and pre-orders have reportedly already reached $3 billion.

Getting to a release date has been messy. The game was originally aimed at 2025, moved to May 26, 2026, then pushed again to November 19, 2026. Take-Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick gave shareholders no single reason for the second delay, saying only that the studio remained "excited and confident" about what it would deliver.

Two missed dates and a round of layoffs at the studio earlier this year have left fans treating release windows as suggestions. Games keep pulling music into the middle of the release conversation, as with a Metallica song on the Gears of War: E-Day soundtrack and The Cure and Radiohead joining the Stage Tour soundtrack.
