Fake Names have announced their third full-length. Punk Ruins is out October 23 on Epitaph Records, and the single "Until It's Normal" is already available.
The lineup reads like a list of overlapping American and Swedish punk histories. Dennis Lyxzen of Refused and INVSN sings. Brian Baker, of Minor Threat, Dag Nasty and Bad Religion, and Michael Hampton, of S.O.A., Embrace and the Faith, play guitar. Johnny Temple of Girls Against Boys and Soulside plays bass.
The one change since the last record is behind the kit: Mario Rubalcaba, of Rocket from the Crypt and OFF!, has joined as drummer.
They cut the album at Electrical Audio in Chicago, the studio Steve Albini founded, working with producer Matthew Barnhardy. Twelve songs went down in five days, and Lyxzen tracked every one of his vocals in a single day.
Punk Ruins follows the band's self-titled 2020 debut and 2023's Expendables, which makes this the third record in six years for a group whose members all have other bands to answer to.
The tracklist opens with "Until It's Normal" and closes on "Paradise," with "Good Old Days," the title track and "Diamond Buzz" among the twelve. Preorders are open.
Touring is planned for the United States in the new year, with no Canadian dates listed so far. The release date sits on the release calendar with the rest of the autumn rock schedule.
