Fuerza Regida closes historic stadium tour with a star-studded NYC finale

Fuerza Regida closed their This Is Our Dream stadium tour at Citi Field in New York on August 7, bringing out 50 Cent, J Balvin, Bobby Shmurda and Shoreline Mafia's Fenix Flexin for the night, Rolling Stone reported.

Frontman Jesus Ortiz Paz, known as JOP, celebrated 50 Cent's legacy by joining him for a run of classics including "P.I.M.P.," "Many Men," "I Get Money" and "What Up Gangsta," backed by 50 Cent's G-Unit associates Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. Fenix Flexin tore through his breakthrough hit "Rubberz," and J Balvin later joined for his Bad Bunny-assisted hit "La Cancion," with JOP singing Bad Bunny's verses himself.

This Is Our Dream marked the first time a corridos band had toured US stadiums, a nine-date run that also hit San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Houston. JOP described the pressure to Rolling Stone earlier this year: "I got the biggest pressure on my back, making sure we sell this out." The tour sold out its stadium dates back to back, including a July stop at Dodger Stadium that the band later followed with additional dates added to the run.

JOP opened the Citi Field show dressed as Spider-Man, a nod to this year's top-selling film Spider-Man: A Brand New Day, before closing the night with a message to the crowd about persistence: "If you have a dream, chase it. Don't wait for the right moment, time is money. Go get it." He recalled the band's earlier trips to New York, when nobody there knew who Fuerza Regida were, a contrast he pointed to directly before the sold-out crowd.

The Citi Field show caps a tour that reshaped what a Latin music act can book in the US, closing out a run tracked from its Dodger Stadium stop through its NYC finale.
