Interpol add a Village Underground afterparty before their tour with Bloc Party

Interpol have announced an intimate afterparty show at London's Village Underground on August 23, following their support slot for Deftones at the Outbreak Fest day of All Points East earlier that day. Held in partnership with Rough Trade, doors open at 10pm, with presale beginning August 13 and general sale August 14.

The Outbreak Fest bill that day also includes IDLES, Amyl & The Sniffers, Esdeekid, JPEGMAFIA, Basement, Deafheaven, Show Me The Body, AFI, Mannequin Pussy and Tooth, following a run of Deftones UK and European headline dates earlier this year that included a sold-out show at London's O2 and celebrated their 10th album, Private Music.

The shows lead into Interpol's ninth album, This Mirror Weighs A Ton, out August 28 via Partisan Records, their new label as of earlier this year. It's previewed by "See Out Loud," inspired by Massive Attack, and "Iron City," which frontman Paul Banks described to NME as a conversation between a human narrator and "the future artificial intelligence that's running things." Asked if he fears AI, Banks said no: "AI replacing art can only base itself on what we've made, so without new stuff it will devolve into a simulacra," he said.

The album also includes "Wings On Fire," which Banks called "a fun romp" that fulfills the band's aim of "being more rocking and raucous" this time around.

Interpol will follow the album with a UK and European co-headline arena tour with Bloc Party later this year, including two nights at London's Olympia on December 4 and 5, tracked on the tour guide, part of a busy late-summer stretch for indie and rock acts around All Points East.
