Amble previewed material from their album Love And All Its Wares at the Ruby Sessions in Dublin, in a room that holds about 100 people. The set was recorded for NPR's World Cafe as part of its Sense of Place series on the city, and it ran to five songs.
The Ruby Sessions is a weekly showcase held upstairs at Doyle's pub, and the format is part of the draw: each week's lineup is a closely guarded secret until the night itself. NPR noted that had the booking been public, the room would have been mobbed.
The trio played Of Land and Sea, Lonely Island, The Swell, Poets Run The Land and Moral Victory, with one unreleased song from the coming record included in the set. Playing new material in a 100-capacity room, to an audience that did not know who was on, is a low-risk way to test songs before they belong to anybody.
Amble formed only a few years ago and have moved quickly. They have toured with Hozier and with Ed Sheeran, and were a favourite at the Newport Folk Festival earlier in the summer, which is a fair marker of where their audience sits outside Ireland.
Love And All Its Wares is their second album and arrives in January 2027. The Dublin session doubles as a bridge between the record being finished and the touring that will carry it, with the band back on the road in the United States from late October.
For an indie act whose songs lean on close harmony and acoustic instrumentation, a small upstairs room is a more honest test than a festival field, and the recording captures that. The album's timing was set out when the band lined up Love And All Its Wares for 29 January, and the release sits on the release calendar.
