The show will be filmed on December 12 at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, with Leslie Small directing. SoulBounce said the shoot uses a multi-camera setup and comes with behind-the-scenes access showing how the concert is built for the audience.
Control is the anchor, but the setlist reaches across the catalogue. SoulBounce named "If," "Nasty," "I Get Lonely," "All For You," "So Excited," "Feedback" and "No Sleep" among the songs expected on the night.
Tickets for the taping went on sale on Thursday, August 20. Anyone wanting earlier access could pick up a VIP presale code from Airtab Music by registering a mobile number.
The finished film goes to theaters first and to streaming services afterwards, and neither date had been announced when SoulBounce published. The project files with the site's R&B and soul coverage, alongside Mariah Carey's run of Glitter anniversary events and 25 years of Supernova by Lisa Left Eye Lopes.
Dennis Cunningham, founder and chief executive of Airtab Music, said in a press release that Control "wasn't simply a hit album" but a cultural turning point, and that his company is producing the film in partnership with Jackson, Randy Jackson and their team. The anniversary lands in a year when Jackson has already passed the 50-year mark in the entertainment business.
