He's pulling out of Pukkelpop, Creamfields and two other European festivals to rest before the run begins.

John Summit canceled four European festival appearances set for later this month, saying in a statement that he needs time off the road to rest and prepare for his upcoming arena tour. "There is so much work to do for the tour and I need to recharge my battery a bit before this fall," he wrote.

The scrapped dates are Pukkelpop in Belgium on August 21, BBC Radio 1 Dance in Malta on August 22, Creamfields in England on August 28 and Touquet Beach Fest in France on August 29, clearing his calendar for the rest of the month.

The break comes less than two months before CTRL ESCAPE, the tour named after Summit's sophomore album, begins October 1 at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois. From there the run heads to major North American stadiums including Madison Square Garden and Chicago's United Center, before closing at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Summit heads into that run fresh off a headlining set at his hometown edition of Lollapalooza in Chicago, and before CTRL ESCAPE gets underway he is also set to headline his own New York event, Experts Only Festival, which returns to Randall's Island September 19 and 20.

Between the festival withdrawals and the lead-up to two of his own events, Summit is clearing his August calendar to protect the electronic tour dates still ahead on the tour guide, betting that a few weeks off now pay off once CTRL ESCAPE is in full swing.
