Jungle release new album Sunshine

Jungle have released a new album, Sunshine, alongside a fresh set of visuals, following up 2023's Volcano. The record is the first to feature Lydia Kitto as an official member of the band, alongside founders J Lloyd and Tom McFarland.

Where Volcano pushed the group's nostalgic, forward-leaning grooves and visual spectacle to a cultural breakthrough, Sunshine leans even further into the 1960s and '70s, drawing on 1960s soul on songs including the title track, lead single "Carry On" and closer "Heavy on My Soul," and '70s and early '80s boogie on faster cuts like "The Wave" and "Move Like You Do."

As with Volcano, Sunshine arrives with a companion visual album, available now via a film pass, alongside individual videos for "The Wave" and "Someday, Somewhere" released ahead of the album and new clips for the title track and "Move Like You Do" released alongside it. Choreographer Will West, a longtime Jungle collaborator, built the routines for both new videos, staging his dancers inside a bank and an upscale bar.

Reviewing the record, SoulBounce called Sunshine one of the year's bright spots even if it doesn't quite match the astonishment of Volcano, describing a band expanding its formula slightly while still delivering what has always worked for it.

Sunshine is now part of the wave of new electronic and soul-leaning releases tracked on the release calendar.
