Jungle release new album "Sunshine"

British group Jungle released their new album, "Sunshine," on August 14 via AWAL, reviewed by DIY at four stars. The trio of Josh Lloyd-Watson, Tom McFarland and Lydia Kitto made it in the wake of "Back On 74," a single the review said dwarfed every earlier Jungle release and turned the band from festival favourites into arena headliners.

Where 2023's "Volcano" pushed the band's sound forward with new electronic textures and bigger hooks, and marked Kitto's emergence as a full-time member reshaping the group's vocal identity, "Sunshine" doubles back down on warmth, groove and accessibility rather than further experimentation. The review described the result as warm soul, elegant disco rhythms and glossy R&B taking precedence over reinvention.

Individual songs still show craft: the title track carries what the review called infectious optimism, "Move Like You Do" rides an elastic bassline, and "Romeo II" reunites the group with guest Bas, whose line about "moving with ambition" the review said reads as a comment on the band itself. "Someday, Somewhere" opens the palette further with more spacious textures.

DIY's review argued the album's biggest strength is also its limit: after "Volcano" proved how far Jungle's sound could stretch, "Sunshine" spends its brief, just-over-half-hour runtime refining familiar ideas rather than finding new ones, reinforcing the band's legacy rather than reshaping it.

"Sunshine" lands in the release calendar as one of August's new pop and indie releases, with Jungle's arena dates, including stops in Lisbon, Leeds and London this fall, also logged in the tour guide.
