Leon Bridges sets his album Happiness Anytime for 25 September on Columbia

Leon Bridges has Happiness Anytime arriving on 25 September 2026 through Columbia Records, and the way he describes it is closer to a brief than a sales line. "I want this album to be something that lingers with people and lingers in people's bones," he said in a statement to AllHipHop published on 19 August. The title is not an instruction to cheer up. "For me, happiness is not a feeling that you chase," he said.

The rest of the statement is about scale, and specifically about not overreaching. Bridges described the sense that everyone is expected to fix the world, and how quickly that turns into feeling inadequate or paralysed. His answer was to define the job narrowly. "My role is to be light," he said, which is a smaller claim than most records make for themselves and an easier one to actually deliver.

The production credit is the part that will interest people who have followed his last few years. J Lloyd-Watson and Lydia Kitto of the British trio Jungle made the record with him, which is a genuinely odd pairing on paper: a Fort Worth soul singer whose first album was recorded to sound like 1962, and a London dance act built on loops and falsetto. Bridges said the sessions pulled him back toward his roots and pushed him forward at the same time, after years of trying different sounds.

Jungle's own year explains part of why they were available. Lydia Kitto became a full member of the group after several years of singing on their records, and the trio released the album Sunshine before turning to outside production work. Whatever they brought to Fort Worth, it is not the horn section and reverb that made Bridges' name.

The title has been in circulation for a while. Bridges has already issued a second part of a Happiness Anytime EP series, so the September album lands on a name his audience has already heard. What Bridges is promising is measurable in a way most album statements are not. A record that lingers is a record people go back to in a year. September will not settle that; 2028 will.
