Lewis Capaldi made a self-deprecating nod to a Florence Welch lyric while performing at Sziget Festival on August 13, NME reported, poking fun at himself just before Florence + The Machine's headline set on the same stage.
Capaldi quoted a line from Welch's song "One of the Greats" - "Must be nice to be a man, and make boring music just because you can" - then laughed and pointed at himself, saying, "I was listening to that, and I was thinking, 'Oh fuck, yeah.'"
Welch has said the song was a "15-year outpouring of frustration" after being ridiculed and derided for the bigness of her expression earlier in her career; it was later named one of NME's 50 Best Songs of 2025. Welch's own headline set at Sziget followed Capaldi's, with NME's review calling it theatrical and drawing on the themes of her album Everybody Scream, including an ectopic pregnancy she has said inspired parts of the record.
Capaldi also used the Sziget slot to confirm plans for a third album, the follow-up to 2019's Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent and 2023's Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent. He told the crowd he has six more shows this summer before going away to "make a new album for everybody," promising to return "as soon as I possibly fucking can be."
MusicSuey also covered Zimmer90's new song at Sziget and Skrillex and Jorja Smith's closing sets, both tracked on the festival tracker.
