Luke Bryan sets his ninth album Signs for a September 18 release

Luke Bryan's ninth studio album, Signs, is set for release on Sept. 18. The country singer has been previewing the record through interviews rather than a heavy single campaign, and the release date is now the firmest thing about it.

Speaking to Billboard, Bryan described the way songs reach him at this stage of his career and what he wanted from the sequencing. "The main thing with me is to just truly enjoy the process and try to make a well-rounded album," he said, adding that he felt Signs was one.

Saving Country Music, which has spent years needling Bryan as a figurehead of commercial country, covered the announcement with a joke at his expense: a 16-song track list made entirely of rearrangements of the words fish, hunt, golf and drink. Its commenters treated it as satire rather than a leak, and it is not the album's real sequence.

The numbers the outlet cited alongside the gag are less playful. Bryan has 32 No. 1 singles and 58 total weeks at No. 1 across his career, with 27.2 billion global streams, 12 million album sales and more than 48 million track sales. His RIAA certifications total 132 million units, split between 19.5 million album units and 112.5 million single units.

That scale is why a Bryan release still moves the country chart even when the rollout is quiet. Signs joins a busy September on the release calendar, and it arrives with the singer's touring operation intact after wildfires pushed back his Washington shows and Live Nation settled a lawsuit over a fan injured at one of his concerts.
