ROZ, the Mexican DJ duo of Hugo Lara and Manolo Cabrera, released their debut full-length album, Se Esta Haciendo Tarde, on August 7, a 19-track project the LA Times called an introspective debut that solidifies the pair's standing as both mixers and vocalists. The two grew up together in Queretaro, a small state just outside Mexico City, and have spent the past year playing major festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza Chicago, Hard Summer, EDC Las Vegas and Sueños.
"We are neither fully DJs, or fully singers, but artists," Cabrera told the Times, describing a live show that mixes synths, singing and DJ sets. The album features cameos from Peso Pluma, J Balvin and Ryan Castro, and the Times described the record as hard to pin down as simple house music, since ROZ leans heavily on Latin rhythm and genre fusion throughout.
The duo began uploading music to SoundCloud in 2022, initially remixing established songs before releasing their first original track, "Cora de Hielo," under Warner Music Mexico in 2024. Subsequent singles, including "Flashes" with Yng Lvcas and "Apaga la Luz" featuring Peso Pluma, came out under ALT:Vision, Queens Road Music and Atlantic Records, the labels behind the new album.
Se Esta Haciendo Tarde is now logged on the release calendar, and ROZ will support it with a 20-city North American tour beginning in Boston on October 21, with six shows already sold out and the run set to close February 27 in their home state of Queretaro.
ROZ's rise mirrors a broader shift the LA Times pointed to: electronic music was the fastest-growing genre in the U.S. in the first half of 2026, according to Luminate, and the duo's Coachella set filled the festival's Sonora Tent to capacity both weekends, in the same year Colombian singer Karol G became the festival's first Latina headliner. Cabrera said the mainstream is opening up to Latino headliners: "Headlining is possible, without a doubt."
