Yoo Doo Right confirm fourth album "Build and Rest..."

The Montreal duo share lead single "Doldrums, Doldrums, Eviler Than the Devil," built on layered odd time signatures.

Yoo Doo Right

Yoo Doo Right announced their fourth album, Build and Rest..., due November 6 via Mothland, alongside its lead single, "Doldrums, Doldrums, Eviler Than the Devil." The Montreal duo built the song around layering drums in a 4 time signature against guitar in 5, a combination they described simply: "This fun exploration birthed this song. This song has been a staple live for a while."

The album continues the band's ongoing exploration of post-rock and krautrock, recorded at Hotel2Tango and Error 403 in Montreal, mixed by Seth Manchester at Machine With Magnets and mastered by Amar Lal at Macro Sound. Guest musicians Jessica Moss on violin and Francis Leduc-Belanger on trumpet and flugelhorn appear across the eight-track record, while co-producer Ky Brooks contributes a spoken-word poem. According to the band, the album addresses the difficulties of being a working artist.

That eight-track sequence runs from opener "Two Hoarders" through "Doldrums, Doldrums, Eviler Than the Devil," "Tortue," "Industriestrasse 9" and "Neighbours Report Their Neighbours," before closing with "To Be a Lambskin (Or to Be the Whole Flock)," "Sofort, Si Fort" and the title track, "Build and Rest...."

Yoo Doo Right will tour Europe this autumn in support of the record, including a run backing SLIFT across the Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy and France, along with an appearance at Left of the Dial in Rotterdam.

Build and Rest... marks the band's fourth full-length, and its November release will close out a year built around the tour and the album's rollout together, with a separate look at the record's Canadian tour dates tracking the rest of the indie band's activity on the release calendar.
