Karina Rykman sat in with My Morning Jacket at the Hoochenanny Festival on Saturday, joining the band at Perinton Center Park Amphitheater in Fairport, New York, for the final four songs of their set: "Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Pt. 2," "Squid Ink," "Wordless Chorus" and closer "Mahgeetah." Rykman had performed with her own band at the same festival the day before.
The appearance is the latest chapter in an ongoing collaboration between the two acts. My Morning Jacket first brought Rykman out to open a pair of Michigan shows in the summer of 2024, leading to their first onstage pairing that July in Detroit. Days later, both acts shared a bill at the inaugural Rose On The River Festival in Chicago, where Rykman sat in with the band for "Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Pt. 2," "Louie Louie" and "One Big Holiday." More collaborations followed in 2025, including a shared set at the band's own One Big Holiday destination event and a pair of October shows in Brooklyn.
My Morning Jacket's set at Hoochenanny pulled songs from eight of the band's ten studio albums, a career-spanning show that closes out their live dates for now; the rock band is off the road until an appearance at the Oceans Calling Festival in Ocean City, Maryland on September 27. Rykman, for her part, is preparing to release her sophomore album, Late Checkout, on September 25, followed by an extensive coast-to-coast fall tour of her own.
