Power Snatch drop a surprise second EP, EP2, with no warning

Power Snatch, the duo of Hayley Williams and Daniel James, surprise-released a second EP called EP2 on August 12 with no advance notice, Pitchfork and NME reported.

EP2 leans into 1990s-inflected alt-rock and trip-hop across four tracks, "Machete," "New Legs," "Born Dead" and "Hell Is a Hallway," and follows the pair's first EP, released earlier this year after Williams and James soft-launched the project with the single "DMs" in December.

Power Snatch first surfaced when Williams and James quietly posted "DMs" to Bandcamp, followed by the single "Assignment" on Apple Music and the project's first EP in February. The pair also released a cover of This Is Lorelei's "Perfect Hand" and, in June, two more songs, "Great" and "Training," featuring Tiberius b, who later joined Williams onstage at a London Roundhouse show.

The release lands ahead of Williams' next tour, The Hayley Williams Show, which begins September 3 in Palm Beach, Florida and runs through November 27 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Rolling Stone en Espanol reported. The North American leg features support from Magdalena Bay and Rico Nasty, while Annie DiRusso joins the South American dates. It follows the wrap of her earlier Hayley Williams At A Bachelorette Party tour in June, itself trailing her solo album Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party.

Williams told Rolling Stone last October that she wants to "be in 100 bands before I die," and has said she is prioritizing outside projects like Power Snatch before returning to write a follow-up to Paramore's 2023 album This Is Why.
