Pretty Lights debuts an unreleased GRiZ and Tape B remix of his 2011 track live

Pretty Lights debuted a previously unheard remix of his 2011 track "I Know The Truth" during a recent three-night run at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, sending the crowd into a frenzy as the ID dropped for the first time in one of his sets. The rework comes from GRiZ and Tape B, who had already previewed it themselves this summer at Electric Forest.

Video from the show captures the track's buildup before GRiZ and Tape B's production tags let the crowd in on what they are hearing. The remix trades the original's old-school synths for wobbling bass and heavier sound design, turning a fan-favorite into what one report called a "funk-heavy DJ weapon."

The crossover carries weight beyond a single set. In the late 2000s and early 2010s, Pretty Lights helped build a bridge between sample-heavy electronic production, jam culture, funk, hip-hop and the bass-forward festival scene that would later make room for producers like GRiZ and Tape B. Hearing his own catalog reworked by artists he helped influence closes a loop for a scene that has kept evolving around him.

Neither Pretty Lights, GRiZ nor Tape B has announced a release date for the remix. For now, the only way to hear it is to catch it live, and fans are left waiting to see whether the unreleased track eventually joins the release calendar as an official single.
