Quality Control label cofounder Pierre 'P' Thomas hospitalized

A representative confirmed he remains hospitalized after reportedly suffering a heart attack.

Pierre ‘P’ Thomas

Pierre ‘P’ Thomas, co-founder of Quality Control Music, is hospitalized after reportedly suffering a heart attack, according to a report from TMZ that XXL confirmed with his team. Thomas, 45, was taken to the intensive care unit of a Las Vegas hospital on August 21. A representative told XXL, "We want to clarify that Pierre 'P' Thomas is alive and currently hospitalized receiving medical care," asking that the family be given privacy during his recovery.

Thomas co-founded the Atlanta-based Quality Control Music with Kevin "Coach K" Lee in 2013, building it into one of the most influential labels in modern hip-hop. The company played a central role in the careers of Migos, Lil Yachty, Lil Baby and the City Girls, among others, helping define the sound of Atlanta rap through the 2010s.

Quality Control's reach expanded further in 2023, when the label signed a $320 million deal with Hybe America, the U.S. arm of the South Korean entertainment company, in a partnership brokered by music executive Scooter Braun. Thomas and Lee retained control of the label under that arrangement and have since grown its footprint into marketing, A&R, sports management and film. Discussing the label's legacy with XXL in 2023, Thomas said he wanted Quality Control remembered for how it built stars despite the obstacles it faced as a Black-owned company, saying it "overcame a lot of adversity and developed some of the biggest superstars of our time."

No further details on Thomas' condition or prognosis have been released. His representative said the family "deeply appreciate[s] everyone's concern, support, prayers, and loving energy" as he continues receiving care.
