Radio Free Alice set October 30 for the debut album What's In Between

Radio Free Alice have set October 30 as the release date for their debut album, What's In Between, and released a new single, "Crying With You", alongside the announcement.

The record was built with producer Peter Katis, whose credits include Interpol and The National, with Ewan Pearson and Finn Billingham also working on it. It follows earlier singles "Kick In The Shins" and "Lunch Money", and comes out through Atlantic Records.

"Crying With You" was written on a retreat in Joshua Tree, California, at a property owned by producer Nicolas Vernhes, where the band spent about a week recording demos and jams. Frontman Noah Learmonth said the verse and chorus were originally two separate songs that they stitched together, which he described as something the band do often.

The announcement came days after the band played an unadvertised London show. More than 500 people turned up to a pop-up under a railway bridge in Bermondsey that had been organised with roughly six hours' notice, a turnout the outlets covering it read as a marker of how quickly the audience has grown.

That growth has been fast by any measure. The band moved from Sydney to Melbourne at 18, started selling out local residencies, and then took their new wave inflected post punk to the UK, Europe and the US.

A tour follows the album. They play Riot Fest in Chicago on September 18 and Austin City Limits on October 9, then a European and UK run that opens in Copenhagen on November 4 and closes in Dublin on November 24, taking in Berlin, Paris, Bristol, London's Electric Ballroom, Manchester, Glasgow and Belfast along the way.

Learmonth called the announcement a relief, saying the band had lived with the songs for a long time. The rock and indie record is now on the release calendar.
