Rakim, Kurupt and Masta Killa released a new single on 28 August, DPG-Wu-Tang, Wu-Tang-DPG, ahead of their joint album The Godbody LP on 18 September. It came with a video.

The title says what the project is. The album pairs the Dogg Pound lineage that Kurupt comes from with the Wu-Tang lineage behind Masta Killa, and puts Rakim, whose records predate both, across the top of it. This particular single is credited on the tracklist to Kurupt and Masta Killa rather than all three.

The guest list around them is deep. Kokane opens the album on Goin' Down, Daz Dillinger, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon share Rock Ya Body, and Snoop Dogg turns up on a remix of Rabbit. Still Ill! brings in KRS-One and Kool G Rap, and an interlude titled God Speak is credited to Eminem and Jay-Z.

Each of the three also gets space alone. Rakim takes A Different Kind, Masta Killa has Nights Over Brooklyn, Kurupt has Nine & Chrome Fiend, and Killa Sin of Killarmy is handed Upstate Introspective. Buckshot, Rim and Trigga appear on Thelonius, Mac Shawn 100 on Rabbit and Mic King on a Hallelujah remix.

HotNewHipHop, which covered the single, pointed out that both Rakim and Kurupt have delivered strong solo material this year, which makes the timing less of a nostalgia exercise than a three-way meeting of people currently working. The single follows Goin Down, the first taste of the album, and Kurupt was in the news earlier this year when he said Eminem paid for his time in rehab.

The Godbody LP is logged with its 18 September date on the release calendar, and all three file under hip-hop.
