River House Artists has renewed its global publishing deal with Dan Alley, working in partnership with Sony Music Publishing Nashville. The extension keeps one of Nashville's busier young writers in a room he first joined in 2022.
Alley's cuts have gone to Lainey Wilson, Jon Pardi, Braxton Keith, Joe Nichols, Austin Snell and Tyce Delk, among others. His first No. 1 country airplay hits came with Luke Bryan's "Country Song Came On" and Hudson Westbrook's "House Again," the latter of which has run past 428 million US streams. Luke Combs' "Be By You," another Alley co-write, recently topped Billboard's Country Airplay chart and climbed into the top 20 of the Hot 100.
The writer put the renewal in plain terms. "Signing with River House/Sony in 2022 was the best decision I've ever made in my songwriting career," Alley said, crediting River House EVP Zebb Luster and founder Lynn Oliver-Cline along with Kayla Adkins and Lauren Lieu on the day-to-day side.
Luster returned the compliment, calling Alley one of the most talented writers in town and saying the company feels it is still early in what he can do. Sony Music Publishing Nashville CEO Rusty Gaston said the label group looks forward to continuing alongside River House.
Alley is also stepping out from behind other people's records. His own songwriter project, Keepin' On, arrives this Friday, September 4. The 11-track release includes five songs written solely by Alley and "He Went To Work," which Jon Pardi recorded for his 2025 album Honkytonk Hollywood. He marked it with a songwriter round at The Listening Room Cafe on September 1 alongside Lukas Scott, Sam Banks and Mae Estes.
Publishing renewals rarely make noise outside Music Row, but they are the clearest signal of who a town is betting on. Two others landed in the same window: Lucas Ball at Warner Chappell Nashville and Mitchell Douglas and Hagan Edge at Universal Music Nashville. More country signings are filed on the genre hub, and Alley's biggest streaming credit is tied to an artist we have covered separately: Hudson Westbrook's second album is due in November.
