Rod Stewart has cancelled dates on his One Last Time tour after undergoing a heart procedure in which doctors fitted a coronary stent, according to a report carried by Rolling Stone en Espanol on August 12.
A representative said in a statement shared with the outlet on August 11 that Stewart is doing well and back to his normal routine, but that "following his doctors' recommendations, he will spend the next four weeks recovering and getting back to full physical fitness before returning to the stage." The statement said Stewart will not be able to continue with his currently scheduled tour dates as a result.
In his own message to fans, Stewart said he was already feeling better and in full recovery. "I am deeply disappointed to be missing these shows and sorry to let my fans down," he wrote, adding that he hoped to be back on stage with them again soon.
The cancelled shows include a concert this past weekend at the Morton Amphitheater in Kansas City, Missouri, plus a planned return to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on August 18, followed by dates in Minnesota, Illinois, Colorado and a run of Mexico shows. The news comes just days after Stewart postponed a concert at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, which the venue attributed to an "unforeseen but minor medical procedure."
This is the tour's second wave of health-related disruption this year. In June, Stewart cancelled and postponed several shows, including two in Las Vegas and one in San Diego, after being diagnosed with an acute upper respiratory infection that developed into laryngitis; he later drew criticism for being seen celebrating Scotland's World Cup win shortly afterward.
