Rod Stewart postponed his scheduled August 9 show at Cincinnati's Riverbend Music Center just hours before doors opened, as part of his "One Last Time" farewell tour, now marked as postponed on the tour guide. "Due to an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention, Rod Stewart's performance tonight in Cincinnati has been postponed," organizers said, adding that all tickets would be honored for a rescheduled date.
Two days later, Stewart's team confirmed the show, and every date through early September, would be canceled outright: the 81-year-old singer had undergone a routine coronary stent procedure. "On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage," his representatives said. The cancellations include his six-show residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
The affected dates also include Mexican shows, and Stewart's August 11 stop at Cleveland's Rocket Arena, which had already been added in place of the postponed Cincinnati date, was canceled as well.
"I'm already feeling better and very much on the mend," Stewart said in his own statement. "I'm deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon."
It's the latest in a run of health-related setbacks on the tour: Stewart paused a show in Utah earlier this summer to use an oxygen tank after nearly fainting on stage, and canceled a California date over laryngitis, drawing criticism when he was later spotted cheering at a World Cup match hours afterward.
The "One Last Time" tour already included his Glastonbury Legends Slot last year, where Ronnie Wood, Mick Hucknall and Lulu joined him onstage. NME's four-star review of that set called Stewart's voice "on point," writing that "he knows how to charm while giving you bang for your buck," even with a crowd it described as less raucous than usual. Stewart has said he'll "probably" wrap up large-scale touring for good with a UK run in 2027.
