Rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs gets his prison release date moved up again

The prison release date for rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs has been moved up one month, according to federal inmate records reviewed by ABC News. Combs, 56, is now scheduled for release on January 24, 2028. No reason was given for the new date, which the Federal Bureau of Prisons says is subject to shift again based on behavior in prison and other factors. A representative for Combs declined to comment on the change.

Combs, one of hip-hop's most prominent moguls, received a 50-month prison term last October after a jury convicted him on two counts tied to prostitution. He is appealing both that conviction and the sentence itself, and his release date has now been adjusted several times since sentencing, each time moving earlier rather than later.

The latest shift comes days after a separate incident: a source familiar with the matter told ABC News that Combs was involved in a fight at the federal prison where he is serving his sentence earlier this month, after another inmate made a remark that instigated the altercation. Combs was sent to solitary confinement as a result, the source said.

A Bureau of Prisons spokesperson said the agency does not comment on "conditions of confinement, disciplinary matters, or other information regarding individual inmates" citing privacy and safety concerns, and Combs' representative has not addressed the reported fight. What is actually driving the earlier release date has not been explained publicly, and the timing next to a disciplinary incident makes the lack of explanation more notable rather than less.

Combs' broader legal situation remains active on several fronts, including a report that later moved his release date back again and testimony from Keefe D denying Combs had any role in the Tupac Shakur murder trial.
