Seven Lions and Kill The Noise return to Monstercat with the single I Need

Seven Lions and Kill The Noise have released "I Need" through Monstercat, their eighth track together and a return to the label where the pairing started. "Cold Hearted," their first collaboration, came out on Monstercat in 2017.

The sequel framing is the producers' own. "We did start out with the intention of making Cold Hearted part two," Seven Lions said, adding that they knew it was going to be melodic and kind of heavy from the outset. Kill The Noise described trying to remember what his thought process had been in 2017 and work out how to get back to it, and said the result landed in the neighbourhood of the original with the production modernised.

The two have kept working together across the intervening years. After 2017 came singles in 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023, plus the Pantheon I and Pantheon II super-collaborations released through Seven Lions' own Ophelia Records. Eight tracks over close to a decade is a working partnership rather than a novelty pairing.

"I Need" opens cinematically, with echoing voices and dramatic keys, before settling into the space between the two producers: Seven Lions' melodic instincts carrying the top line while Kill The Noise's heavier bass work sits underneath. The blend is close enough that the individual fingerprints are hard to separate, which is the point of doing it eight times.
