Sharon Osbourne says the metal festival Ozzfest 2027 is under discussion

Sharon Osbourne says an official announcement on a 2027 edition of the metal festival Ozzfest is coming "soon," Metal Injection reported on August 3, following up NME's report the next day. Speaking to Metal Hammer, she confirmed the festival would return to Birmingham's Villa Park, the stadium that hosted Ozzy and Black Sabbath's final live performances last summer, weeks before his death aged 76. "It's going to be at Villa Park again," she said. "Whether it'll be two nights, that's up for the fans to tell me."

Ozzfest first launched in 1996, with an inaugural bill featuring Ozzy Osbourne, Biohazard, Sepultura and Neurosis, and ran across North America for decades before its final instalment, held in Inglewood, California on New Year's Eve 2018. Sharon said she is "speaking to people" about the lineup but could not yet share names. NME reported she had earlier told son Jack Osbourne, "we've got to find a lot of young, new talent, because that's what your dad would want," also teasing a possible US leg.

Elsewhere in the interview, Sharon again defended plans for an AI powered avatar of Ozzy that fans would be able to interact with. "Ozzy loved the idea. We've been talking about it for 10 years," she said, pushing back on criticism that the project amounts to a "money grab," insisting she wasn't using Ozzy to peddle weedkiller or beer. She said the avatar would let fans "ask Ozzy anything, and he will answer you in his own voice."

The renewed Ozzfest talk follows a year of tributes since Ozzy's death on July 22, 2025, including a twice extended exhibit at Birmingham Museum and Gallery and the city's first "Ozzy Day" marking the one year anniversary. Jack Osbourne has also confirmed a biopic about his parents is "absolutely happening," targeted for a 2028 release.
