Shygirl has released the video for "Alyse," her first single of the year, which she wrote and produced with Karma Kid and JD Reid.
Directed by Francesco Loy Bell and Oliver Bell, the six-minute, three-act video opens in medias res as two halves of a wealthy couple each discover the other's affair, and builds to a chase through the streets of London. Shygirl herself doesn't appear on screen until near the end of the clip.
In an Instagram story spotted by Pitchfork, Shygirl said the video is "very much not what's happening," though she didn't elaborate further on what the story actually depicts.
"Alyse" is Shygirl's first new material since a run of releases last year: Club Shy Room 2, a sequel to her 2024 EP Club Shy, and Alias Is Me, a remix companion to her 2020 EP Alias featuring Sega Bodega, George Riley, JT and Nick Leon. She also teamed up with Eartheater last year for the singles "Shark Brain" and "Dolphin."
Shygirl's only full-length to date remains 2022's Nymph. "Alyse" is now part of the wave of new electronic releases tracked on the release calendar.
