Slash, Marty Stuart and Marcus King will headline a steel guitar showcase called "Sho-Bud Showcase Live" at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on October 27. The bill also includes Lloyd Green, Skunk Baxter, Dan Dugmore, Don Felder of the Eagles, Rocco DeLuca, Eddy Dunlap, Sarah Jory, Andrea Whitt, Hatfield Rain, Ed Williams, Johnny Cox and Cody Parks, with more names still to be announced.
The show celebrates the legacy of the Sho-Bud pedal steel guitar, the instrument steel guitarist Buddy Emmons developed with Shot Jackson in 1955, building the first models in a garage in Madison, Tennessee, before the company moved to Nashville in 1963. Sho-Bud loyalists over the years included steel guitar greats Lloyd Green, Jerry Byrd, Ralph Mooney and Pete Drake, and Green later got his own signature model, the LDG.
The company's old Nashville showroom now houses the honky tonk Robert's Western World on Lower Broadway, where the upstairs bar is still named the Sho-Bud balcony bar in tribute. Gretsch bought Sho-Bud in 1979 and eventually stopped making the guitars, until Shot Jackson's grandchildren, Will and Dawn Jackson, reacquired the name in December 2024 and restarted the company in 2025 alongside their father David and uncle Harry.
