Slipknot confirmed that turntablist Sid Wilson, known to fans as No. 0, is out of the band after 28 years, posting a statement to social media on August 14 and then deleting it within about ten minutes. 'Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson. We wish him the best in his future endeavors,' the post read.
TMZ first reported the split on July 31, saying Wilson had been permanently removed over how he treated his bandmates; guitarist Jim Root responded at the time by urging fans not to believe everything they read. Wilson had even introduced himself as a current member at an event just days before Friday's confirmation.
Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998 as keyboardist and turntablist, just before the band's self-titled debut broke through. He also performs solo as DJ Starscream and in his own band SID, and last year he launched a label, Vomit Face Records.
Wilson's exit is the latest in a run of Slipknot departures, following percussionist Chris Fehn in 2019, keyboardist Craig Jones in 2023, and drummer Jay Weinberg, who left the same year and has said the split came without explanation. Slipknot's last album, The End, So Far, arrived in 2022, and the band has toured since with new drummer Eloy Casagrande.
Wilson's former fiancee, Kelly Osbourne, with whom he has a young son, posted and later deleted messages criticizing him around the same time. Slipknot has not said what prompted the decision, and Wilson changed his Instagram bio over the weekend to read '@slipknot 1997-2026.'
