Greek pop singer Stella returns on Sub Pop with a single called Belinda

Stella, the Greek pop artist who writes her name with a sigma in place of the S, has returned with a single called Belinda on Sub Pop. It is her first new music since last year's album, and it arrives without an album attached to it.

The production credits explain a good deal about how it sounds. Rodaidh McDonald co-produced, which puts Belinda in the hands of someone whose work tends to leave space around a voice rather than crowd it. Stereogum described the result as carefully crafted and heartfelt at the same time, with production choices made to strengthen the song rather than decorate it.

Rafael Cohen of the New York band !!! also plays on the track. That is a continuation rather than a new introduction: Cohen worked on Adagio, the album Stella released in 2025, so Belinda keeps a collaborator who already knows the material.

Sub Pop has been Stella's label through this run of records, which matters more for an artist working largely in Greek and outside the English-language press cycle. A label with that kind of reach is often the difference between a record being heard abroad at all and it staying local.

No album, tour dates or further singles have been announced with Belinda. Until one is, the song sits on its own on the release calendar, and more releases like it are on our indie hub. Sub Pop also signed the New Orleans punk band Twisted Teens last month.
