New Orleans punk band Twisted Teens sign to the label Sub Pop

Twisted Teens have signed to Sub Pop. The New Orleans punk band, led by Caspian Halliwell and RJ Santos, got the news out through Pitchfork on August 19, 2026, alongside a pair of added US shows and an Australian run at the end of the year.

The first thing the label picks up is Florida Water Blues, the band's recent album. Sub Pop takes the international release; Going Underground, which had it in North America, keeps it there. That leaves one record with two labels, split by territory.

Florida Water Blues followed Blame the Clown, released in January, and before that a self-titled debut in 2024. Three albums in roughly two years is why Pitchfork describes the band as prolific, and Blame the Clown turned up in the same outlet's rundown of the best music of 2026 so far.

The two dates flagged as new are small rooms in big cities: Make Out Room in San Francisco on September 3 and Zebulon in Los Angeles on September 4. They close out a West Coast stretch that starts August 24 and works up through Del Mar, Santa Cruz, Portland, Vancouver, Seattle, Olympia and Oakland.

The biggest rooms on that stretch are support slots. Twisted Teens open for the Breeders at the Hollywood Palladium on August 24 and at The Sound in Del Mar the following night, which is a considerable jump from the 200-capacity end of the schedule they play the rest of the week.

November is the long one. They headline Bowery Ballroom in New York on the 3rd, then join Kurt Vile and the Violators for eighteen shows running from Asbury Hall in Buffalo on the 4th to Ottobar in Baltimore on the 24th, taking in Columbus, Louisville, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Des Moines, Lawrence, Omaha, Fort Collins, Denver, Fayetteville, Memphis, Athens, Charleston, Charlotte and Richmond.

That leg also brings them home. The Joy Theatre in New Orleans on November 18 is the only hometown date on an itinerary that otherwise keeps moving, and December takes them out of the country entirely: Howler in Melbourne on the 11th, the Meredith Music Festival in Victoria on the 12th, Crowbar in Brisbane on the 15th and Oxford Art Factory in Sydney on the 16th. Meredith is the only festival booking on the whole schedule.

Independent labels have been busy signing this year. Captured Tracks took on Sam Burton with a third album lined up, and Jagjaguwar signed June McDoom ahead of her first. Twisted Teens land on the rock hub here next to their November touring partner, Kurt Vile, who guested with Fontaines D.C. at La Route Du Rock, and next to punk peers like the Garden.
