Superfan announces debut album My Piledriver Heart

Superfan has announced a first album. My Piledriver Heart is due this fall from the young Brooklyn songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kali Priya Flanagan, who announced it alongside a new song, In The Gold Room.

Flanagan has been through more than one name already. He used to make music as KALI before starting Superfan, and he is also a member of the emo band Holidays In United States, which means this record arrives from someone with an existing catalogue rather than a standing start.

The album has been previewed in pieces rather than in one push. Apeiron (Fantasy Football) and Picture Of Return both surfaced earlier as Superfan singles, and In The Gold Room is the third of them, which puts a reasonable amount of the record in public before the release date.

That pacing is now standard for a debut on the American independent circuit, where a first album is usually three or four singles old by the time it lands. It gives a new name time to accumulate an audience without a marketing budget behind it.

Stereogum's item on the announcement is short and was published behind a registration prompt, so the fuller details of the record, including label, tracklist and exact date, were not in the material available at the time of writing.
