The Chicks are marking 20 years since Taking the Long Way with an expanded anniversary edition, out October 2 via Legacy Recordings as a three-LP set. Taking the Long Way originally arrived May 23, 2006 on Columbia Records, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and winning five Grammy Awards, including Album, Record and Song of the Year for its hit single "Not Ready to Make Nice," which also reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The reissue adds five bonus tracks: demo versions of "Not Ready to Make Nice," "So Hard" and "Flowers," plus two previously unreleased songs, "Thin Line" and "Live Wire," both streaming for the first time. The vinyl edition includes an exclusive etching with handwritten lyrics and refreshed cover art.

"It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since Taking the Long Way," Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer said in a joint statement. "It feels like the perfect way to celebrate this journey with the fans who have been with us every step of the way."

The Chicks will perform Taking the Long Way in full each night on their anniversary tour, starting September 30 in Detroit, before closing with fan favorites from the rest of their catalog. The tour runs through Chicago, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, New York, Nashville, San Antonio, Austin and Seattle, ending with three nights at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre.

The reissue and tour join the rest of the fall's new country releases on the release calendar and the tour guide.
