The Linda Lindas have put out a video for Everybody Told Me, a song about being weighed down by other people's advice, arriving alongside their third studio album Gotta Get Out.
Mila De La Garza said the song was one of the most collaborative on the record. "That back-and-forth environment brought out so many different ideas from all of us," she said, crediting it with producing the call-and-response bridge and the band's first fade-out ending.
She also flagged the tone. The band went further into what she called their emo and sad side on several songs here, and the video takes a ghostly Victorian direction the group had never tried before.
Four years on from their debut, Growing Up, the writing has changed more than the playing. The band told Line of Best Fit they had pushed themselves to try new things at a point where routine would have been easy, describing the work as a way of not feeling crushed.
They spend the rest of the year on the road, headlining with support from the Rat Utopia Experiment, VIAL, Deux Visages, Adan Diaz and Grace Bowers, and joining Bleachers for a handful of September dates.
The clip follows the band's earlier video for Blood On Our Hands and the Gotta Get Out announcement. It is logged on the release calendar, and the record is the noisiest rock thing they have made.
