The Olivia Tremor Control have shared "Advice From The Oceans," the newest song from The Same Place, which Stereogum describes as a jaunty ode to the sea.

The album was announced last month, and the number attached to it is the reason anyone is paying attention: it is the band's first new record in 27 years.

Three songs from it are now out. The title track "The Same Place" came first, then "Garden Of Light," and this one makes the third, which gives a reasonable picture of the record before it arrives.

The group came up through the Elephant 6 collective, the loose Athens and Denver network that also produced Neutral Milk Hotel and The Apples in Stereo, and Stereogum still files them as an idiosyncratic psych-pop outfit rather than a nostalgia act.

The previews are logged on the release calendar with the rest of the indie and rock autumn, in a season with an unusual number of long-gap returns in it, including Friendly Fires' first new music in seven years and The Spook School getting back together for a new album.
