The Velveteers are bringing their double-drummer garage rock to Europe properly for the first time, with a run of dates in early 2027 that stretches from Lyon to Milan and takes in most of the UK on the way.
The Boulder, Colorado band play London's Oslo on 18 February, with UK shows also booked in Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Nottingham, Brighton and Margate. The European leg opens at Le Marche Gare in Lyon on 11 February and closes at Arci Bellezza in Milan on 7 March, with stops in Paris, The Hague, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Malmo, Leipzig, Berlin, Ulm, Munich, Zurich, Ravenna and Florence.
That is a long way from arena support slots, which is where a lot of UK audiences will have seen them. The Velveteers have opened for Smashing Pumpkins and The Black Keys, and the live reputation built on those runs is what this tour is trading on.
The band's setup is the thing people remember. Demi Demitro sings and plays guitar in front of two drum kits played at once, an arrangement that gives a three-piece the weight of something considerably larger and leaves nowhere for a weak song to hide.
The tour follows A Million Knives, their debut album, released last year through Easy Eye Sound. Dan Auerbach produced it and owns the label, whose Nashville roster also includes Little Barrie and Shannon and the Clams.
An Auerbach production on a garage-rock debut is close to a genre in itself at this point, and the risk with it is a band arriving sounding like the label rather than like themselves. What the live show does is settle that question in the other direction: the double kit is not a studio effect and does not translate to record the way it lands in a room.
Support acts for the run have not been announced, and no further UK dates have been added beyond the seven listed.
The 2027 diary is filling up on the tour guide, and more rock coverage sits on our genre hub. Another American band crossing for the same stretch of February, Spanish Love Songs, have booked their own UK and European run.
