Producer TroyBoi has released "La La Land," a collaboration with North Carolina singer and rapper Morray, AllHipHop reported on August 13. The track dropped July 31 and slots in as a key single from TroyBoi's forthcoming FT EP, due August 21, a project built around collaboration as its organizing idea. TroyBoi says he sent Morray the instrumental and "he immediately connected with it."

The song runs on TroyBoi's signature off-kilter bass and syncopated percussion, with Morray's gospel-rooted vocal style, sharpened by years singing lead in his church choir in Fayetteville, giving the track a soulful anchor. It is the fourth guest-vocalist single TroyBoi has released this year, following pairings with Shiwa, Toxic Rob and Daya.

TroyBoi's collaborative instinct has paid off before: his 2018 remix of Billie Eilish's "my boy" has drawn nearly 110 million Spotify streams, and Rihanna used two of his productions for her 2019 Savage X Fenty show. Morray's own breakout single, "Quicksand," has pulled in more than 260 million YouTube views.

FT arrives August 21 as a fuller showcase of TroyBoi's production across hip-hop, electronic and R&B textures with a rotating cast of vocalists, backed by his Hear2Move Tour series through the fall. "La La Land" sits within hip-hop and the release calendar ahead of the EP.
