Winyah premiere I Am Of Course a day before the album Right Here, Right Now

Winyah have given away one more song before their second album lands. I Am Of Course premiered on 17 September, a day ahead of Right Here, Right Now, and it is one of the record's unheard tracks rather than another of the singles the band have been dropping through the campaign.

The band are a South Carolina five-piece: vocalist Thomas Rowland, bassist Stephen Russell, keyboardist Robert Buffington Jr., guitarist Luke Gordon and drummer Jake Riley. They made the album with the producer Matt Zutell of Coast Records, and the result keeps the kinetic blend of rock styles their 2025 debut Lot to Learn was built on.

A year between a debut and a follow-up is fast by current standards, and the record sounds like a band who did not want to stop. Under the Radar describes it as capturing them in a state of forward motion, driven by riffs and hooks rather than by any change of direction.

I Am Of Course itself does something slightly different from the singles around it. The band pile on power chords, cowbell and rumbling drums under a howling vocal from Rowland, but pull back from the restless tempos of recent tracks like Drawing a Blank, which arrived last month, settling instead into a steady driving rhythm and a chorus that climbs. Gritty tension leaks into Rowland's voice as it rides over the distorted guitars.

The lyric is a flat statement of intent, built around lines about being the wind rather than the dust and getting your own way as a river does. The band describe the song as being about someone so determined that their success feels inevitable, and as a call for listeners to believe in themselves and let the outside noise go, which is a straightforward reading of a straightforward song.

Under the Radar does not name a label for Right Here, Right Now. Other indie and rock bands have been running the same pattern of singles into a quick second record, among them Bodega, who put out Weather Me ahead of their fourth album, and The Linda Lindas, who previewed their third with Blood On Our Hands.
