Wishy released the video for "Sensational" on August 18, another song pulled from their upcoming second album, Nature's Pill, due out October 2. Indianapolis band Wishy worked with director Jess Dunn on the clip, which uses roughly 3,000 physical cutouts of the band, animated frame by frame into what Dunn described as around 2,130 individual images by the time the video was finished.
The song follows "Lovesick" and "All the Rage" as the latest single from Nature's Pill, continuing a rollout that has given each new song its own visual treatment rather than holding video content back for the album's release. Vocalist and guitarist Kevin Krauter described the track's origin in the band's usual loose, informal style: "Mitch wrote this killer bass line and we had to rock it out crazy style," he said, adding a nod to a shared reference point in the Breeders' Etienne De Crecy-adjacent energy of the song.
Krauter's press-cycle asides have carried a lighter tone than the band's usual interviews, at one point suggesting fans "run it up at a coworkers' bday party and just see what happens" once they've heard the track.
Nature's Pill is set for release on October 2, and DIY's report gave no indication of how many more singles, if any, will arrive before then.
The animated approach to "Sensational" stands out even against the band's own earlier videos, giving the song a visual identity distinct from the rest of the indie album campaign so far, one more entry alongside the record's other rollout news on the release calendar.
