Wishy's "Sensational" video paves the way for new album "Nature's Pill"

Wishy released an animated video for "Sensational" on August 18, the third single from their upcoming album Nature's Pill, due October 2 via Winspear. Under the Radar's Mark Redfern described the clip as featuring the band performing inside the pages of a composition notebook, with director Jess Dunn using more than 3,000 paper cutouts of the band, transformed frame by frame into the finished animation.

Vocalist and guitarist Kevin Krauter described the track's origins in typically loose terms in a press release: "basically mitch wrote this killer bass line and we had to rock it out crazy style." "Sensational" follows two earlier singles from the album, "Lovesick" and "All the Rage," both of which Under the Radar named among its own Songs of the Week picks when they arrived.

Nature's Pill is the band's sophomore album, following 2024's Triple Seven and last year's Planet Popstar EP. The Indianapolis shoegaze and dream-pop band, made up of vocalist and guitarist Nina Pitchkites, Krauter, guitarist Dimitri Morris, bassist Mitch Collins and drummer Conner Host, recorded the new record in Los Angeles with Triple Seven co-producer Ben Lumsdaine, keeping the same creative partnership that shaped their debut.

Krauter framed the band's current creative stretch in more reflective terms elsewhere in the same press cycle, saying that being in an indie band "feels bizarre when the world is on fire" and that making music now is a way to "carve out some space" and invite listeners into it with him: "At a certain point you need to say fuck it and roll with it."

With Nature's Pill still weeks away, Wishy's rollout has leaned heavily on video content, giving each single its own visual rather than saving that treatment for the album's release, and the band has also shared "Sensational" as a standalone single release alongside the video itself. Whether the remaining tracks on the record will get the same rollout before its October 2 date on the release calendar has not been said, and the band's fuzzed-out take on indie rock shows no sign of slowing down before then.
